I started lessons in jan/feb (with a break due to covid) with Lawrence.. I’m so glad I found such a good driving instructor to get me to test standard and pass with only 3 minors.. Lawrence is patient and professional that teaches to a high standard.. I would highly recommend him to anyone that is looking for a automatic instructor.. I’m going to miss our lessons once again thank you so much
About Me
Hi, I'm Lawrence, and I run Lawrence's Driving School here in Kettering.
I've been driving for over 40 years and first qualified as an Approved Driving Instructor (ADI) back in 1994. Since then, I've helped hundreds of people learn to drive, build their confidence and work towards passing their driving test.
I took a break from driving instruction in 2003, and when I decided to return to the profession, I began retraining as a driving instructor in 2016. Going through the training process again was actually a great experience. It gave me the opportunity to update my knowledge, refresh my teaching methods and take a fresh look at how people learn to drive.
Today, I'm proud to be a Grade A driving instructor — the highest grade awarded to an ADI.
For me, though, being a good driving instructor is about much more than simply teaching someone how to pass a test. I want my pupils to become safe, confident and independent drivers who have the skills they need long after they've passed.
I keep up to date with developments in driver training and I'm always looking at ways to make my lessons more effective. Everyone learns differently, so I adapt my teaching to the individual rather than expecting every pupil to learn in exactly the same way.
I also hold a Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS) qualification, which has given me an even greater understanding of teaching and how people learn.
I like my lessons to be professional but relaxed and friendly. Learning to drive can be challenging at times, and I don't believe adding unnecessary pressure helps anybody. We'll work at your pace, deal with the things you find difficult and have a bit of fun along the way.
My aim isn't just to get you through your driving test. It's to help you become a driver who feels comfortable and confident making your own decisions on the road.
